What do e30 s50s sell for?

Ive been playing with an idea for this summer, get a decent 325i(s) swap a s50 in it, clean it up, and sell it for a profit.

After doing the s52 in my m3 and choosing every hard route possible, I think I can get it done pretty quick.

Im trying to figure out what they sell for, mainly on ebay.

So what do you think? Lets say a nice straight body car, no rust, pretty good paint, clean interior (no rips or anything atleast), with a nice clean s50 install would go for? Could I even make a profit?

You can't sell mods for more than they cost new, which is basically what you'd be trying to do. Unless you found amazing deals on an S50 and a clean E30, you won't get back more than you put into it.

That's basically a general rule nowadays (rare exceptions)

Thats what I was thinking, I was just trying to figure out what they go for and see what I could build it for.

Descent car is going to be 3-4k, Motor is 2-3k and the cars usually sell for 7-8 depending on what other mods it has.

Damn.. maybe if I find an e30 m3 shell it might be worth my while :) Doubtful that would happen.

Oh well screw that idea then.

If you find a stock car on craigslist or auto trader for under $2k like I see them then it would be worth it. Clean it up, do the swap and throw some suspension and some Ronal rims on and you should be set.

You could probably make profit if all you did was find one for cheap that looked all right but then use some elbow grease to make it look exceptionally clean or diminish any blemishes. Address the minutest of any mechanical problems and then park it in the rich part of town with a for sale sign for $4500. Some ignorant guy looking to buy his kid his first BMW is bound to pick it up.

That was kind of my original plan. Find something that just looks ugly but could be cleaned up easy. Problem is I would want to do something with an 89+ car for the plastic bumpers so I wouldnt have to swap them. They always seem more expensive
