It shouldn't leave any residue, unless you bake it on there for days on end. I've heard of people doing it.

i did it when i drove from kansas to california. def. helped. my headlights were completly covered, but the rest of the front end was fine when i pulled the tape.

I wouldnt worry about it if you were just coming from norcal...

It comes off with no residue at all. Worth it if your going to be driving real long distances.

Here's a thought, just get one of these, it keeps the bugs off your windshield too...

Not plugging Griot's, just exactly what you're looking for. Don't kniow of anywhere else that sells something like it.

                http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=20264

I have used it and will be using it when I drive to Cali this summer. Easy to apply and peels of with no problem or residue whenever you want to remove. Provides great protection, safe for paint, and easy to apply. Looks better than blue painters tape too! ;)

To ensure that you have no problems removing it I do recommend making sure the wax on your car if fairly new when you apply. This will just make peeling it off easier, but it can be applied to a non waxed surface.

interesting Derek- I wanted to hear from someone who used that spray... good alternative to the tape.

I have used 3M painters tape for road trips, just make sure you get painter's tape and not masking tape! (yes, i've seen it done before ;))

I just wash and wax the car before applying the tape, take the road trip and then remove and wash your car when you get there. Lasted for a 14+ hour road trip over 2 days from WA to CA .. you sometimes need to re-stick some sections if they start lifting :)

I just made a road trip in january with my rallye. 15 hours on the road and i used the blue painters tape. Worked very well there where a lot of places where you could certainly see rocks and misc hitting the tape.

I have used the clear film you get for overmasking graphics work. I beleive this is similar to what some of the retail shops use.

As Cramer mentioned I as well would be interssted in spray on as I plan to drive to California later this year.

go to a place that ships higher end cars, 9 times out of 10 they wrap them in a film, get some of there end pieces, stick er on there and your good to go, no film no nothing... most of the time you see new cars shipped in this stuff, i just reuse it on my car..... it similar to heat shrink only in sheets.....

I have used the Spray On Bra, not on my car (Richard's Ferrari :D), but I have applyed and removed it. You can leave it on as long as you want with no ill effects. Extremely easy to apply and take off. No need to wash when removed. If you are gonna have a road trip this summer, drop the $20 for this.

A lot of Griot's stuff is unnecessarily expensive, but there are a few cool products...this would have to be one.
