Possibly getting an e28 this weekend

Looks like I can pick up a supposedly high mileage, but mechanically sound, 528e this weekend for around 250 bucks. The clear coat is peeling in a few spots, but I figure even if the car turns out to be a pile of trouble I could recoupe most of the cost if I scrap it.

Any r3v'ers also own an e28?

IMHO an e28 528e with worn suspension, and a tired motor is one of the least fun BMW's ever made. It's heavy, it lumbers, it can't get out of it's own way. Even a 535i is a bit underpowered. with a eta, it's even worse.

ZNot so say that for $250 it's not a deal. I'm looking for a second BMW so that I can paint/rebuild my e30. And at $250 I would pick it up.

I drove a 528e for a few years. Roomy, good gas mileage, interesting to look at. For $250 you can't go wrong.

          overstatement.

          I prefer driving my 528e over e30.

You can floor it everywhere and drive like an asshole without looking like one ;).

If those are actual rear headrests.. and not front ones crudely fitted to the rear.. you can easily sell them.. maybe to me.

I had a 5-speed 533i for over five years, just sold it last weekend. Not quite as easy as an E30 to work on, and there are more nooks and crannies for rust to hide. Plus, there's that dump-truck steering, but it was made for straight lines at high speeds.
