Is it worth to buy this 1990 325is? Need advice!

Hi r3vlimited! I am located in California searching for an 325is. I have come

across to this particular car selling 5.9k~ with 220k mileage. Got to test five it

and the engine went strong and healthy. The owner has all the service record and

have changed parts recently( timing belt, radiator, alternator, etc). However, the

body work is not what was expected from the pictures provided. There are 1

obvious dents each on the hood and on the trunk. There are patches of white

dust stains that cannot be removed after going through the hand wash shop.

Considering the mileage and body work, is it worth to buy it? I might get it off

for 4.5k. Is that price reasonable? Do i need to have to do a body work?

I do not want to be picky about the body work, so just want some advice on

the purchase. What do you guys think?

To me, it's worth 2k. But you're in cali, so add 50% due to cali overpriced everything tax. Then on top of that, E30 tax. another 1k.

3k, 4k tops. It would have to be lower mileage, better body, and not an auto to command nearly 6k like that.. Even 4.5 is really pushing it. (To me. Others may disagree).

Wanting an auto is fine. Silly in an E30 for most, but just fine. Also, it should be mentioned, body work is the most important place to be picky about. Body work is much more expensive and tedious to do than mechanical work, and affects the price the most. This pretty much goes for any car on the planet.

Others will chime in I'm sure.

I actually agree to the fact that body work is an important criteria for such classy cars. It adds so much more to the car!

I've been searching for an E30 in Cali for a while but 6k for this one is not worth it. I'd agree with 4k but thats even a little high, I passed up on a mint condition white 325i with only 8X,xxx miles on it for 6k and it was an auto (bad decision, just a reference point). If you're gonna spend that much money you gotta make sure its really nice, those dents are gonna be extra work either for you or a shop and its gonna cost money and/or labor those are good haggling points if you really must have this one (I understand that feeling if you feel that way). If you can talk the guy down to 3-4k that'd be okay, but definitely not the 6k he's asking for. Just my $0.02

200k+ on an m20 means engine rebuild. plus everything else will be torn or broken. plus being a beach car it will have rust.

What on earth makes you think a 200k m20 automatically needs to be rebuilt ?!?

jeeze the assumed value of an e30 has gone up so much
3 years ago that car wouldn't of sold for 2000 imo
and and 200 miles is a lot of miles on a car you will have to replace so much....even things that are not considered true maintenance parts

people still get e30s for a 1000 $ on here shiit someone just found a 1000$ ix on here.. just wait until you find a good deal and just search everyday

I just tried out a 1989 325ix 17k miles. The interior is superior, but after test drive, it's power was not as expected. I met the owner in a sf car park and tried out the slopes. There is power but not as much as expected for an all wheel drive car. What might be the problem? Other than that, price is $3.4k. Reasonable for a rare 325ix?

that car is easily worth the 5.9 k that last person wanted and yes the auto ix is a slow car(it think 10% power loss from the awd) but that was my first car(4door ix) and I loved it....it wont get stuck in snow, sand, mud or anything for that matter. it drove me across the country and taught me every single thing I know about cars

yea its defenitly slower than any is or I or the same year but if you one day swap a new 5 speed in it you will have the nice 4:10 diff of an auto and the car will feel just like a is

but bottom line the first car is a rip off and the second could be bought and sold for profit as is

uggg if I was near him I would go and offer 2500 today

and I have never owned a car with a working odometer
