    How rare?

So I stumbled upon this car and had to stop! It's an 850i with a v12 badge. Is it rare or worth pursuing?

I would rather judged by 12 than carried by 6

It's a bmw 8 series. Some googling will tell you lots about it. They all had v12'a and iirc almost all in the US were automatics.

Nothing spectacularly special. I see them on Craig's all the time.

Never driven one, but from what I read about it, it's not the car it could have been.

All 850s are V12. Same engine as 750iL
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

To answer your question, they made 20,072 850is.

The v12 engine (m70) is basically two m20's fused together.

Prepare to have extra ordinarily deep pockets to maintain/work on this engine.

                        It's controlled by two "banks".

Basically two if everything, meaning one for each bank.
Google bmw m70 engine and you'll see what I mean.

Love the styling on these cars. AFAIK, the early V12s were available with the 6 speed manual but aren't too common, later models were auto only and all the 840s were auto in the US. The 850CSi being the exception of course.

I'm probably asking for a world of hurt.... but I want one someday...

E31s are infamous for high and often maintenance cost/work

They are cool cars, but maintain emcee rivals even the e39 m5
