I would love to swap an LS into one of these. Could be a monster top speed car. Think salt flats and parachutes..Leave a comment:

The M70 may have started out as two M20's but very little is similar with it. The geometry is about all they share. But they do have 2 ECU's, two fuel pumps, two everything really.
The only 6 speed BMW offered behind their v12 was in the 850. Every other v12 since has been an automatic.Leave a comment:

E31s are infamous for high and often maintenance cost/work
They are cool cars, but maintain emcee rivals even the e39 m5Leave a comment:

Love the styling on these cars. AFAIK, the early V12s were available with the 6 speed manual but aren't too common, later models were auto only and all the 840s were auto in the US. The 850CSi being the exception of course.
I'm probably asking for a world of hurt.... but I want one someday...Leave a comment:

How rare?
The v12 engine (m70) is basically two m20's fused together.
Prepare to have extra ordinarily deep pockets to maintain/work on this engine.
It's controlled by two "banks".
Basically two if everything, meaning one for each bank.
Google bmw m70 engine and you'll see what I mean.Leave a comment:

Never driven one, but from what I read about it, it's not the car it could have been.Leave a comment:
