Which has a lower oil pan? M20 or s52?

I don't have one of my car otheriwse I'd just go measure, but which engine in an e30 was a lower oil pan (least amount of ground clearance)?

    TIA for any information

edit: Reason for the question? I never had clearance issues with my s52 swapped wagon, now that the vert is running the same size wheel/tire setup I am trying to figure out if I still need to run the skidplate I installed on the vert a long time ago.

But an S52 pan won't fit in an E30, because it is a rear mount, you'd need an M50 pan. But as a general rule, the 24v pan sits lower.

Yeah, the 24V pan hangs super low.

I've thought about running taller motor mounts to get some breathing room between the pan and the ground, how tight is the fitment on the top end?
