Gen Discussion Urgent Help Post: Rear Subframe Install

I need some urgent help R3vers, I'm at a stand still with putting my rear subframe on my E30. The plan is to use a rear subframe I got out of a '90 325ix so I can weld in some camber/toe adjustments on that one while still being able to drive the car and today I attempted to switch them out and everything went well until installing the rear drive shaft onto the IX diff. It seems that the driveshaft flange is not wanting to mate up with the IX flange and I can't figure out how to get them to mate up.

here's what I'm working with, the center carrier bearing is bolted in.

When I was pulling it off I had to use a screw driver and pry it apart and drop the center carrier bearing. What in the F is going on. HELP

Extend the driveshaft via the splined joint in the middle. It's by the csb.

      This.

The shaft telescopes just behind the CSB, as pictured here:

The collar acts as a jam nut. Loosen it up a few turns and the shaft should slide (with some effort) towards the diff. Once everything is bolted back together, and the CSB is properly preloaded, tighten the collar back up.

          Pipe wrench! Two of them.
Use one on the drive shaft and one on the nut.

How do you get any rotation out if it when it's up in the tunnel?

Counter clockwise,. While looking at the diff from the front of the car. And just to clarify, it only has to loosen a turn or so for the shaft to be able slide on the splines. When you turn it, it isn't going to directly extend the shaft. It's only a jam nut. You might have to tap the driveshaft flange towards the diff with a hammer (gently)to get it to move.
