    Grinding noise in reverse.

So here's the thing... When i put my car in reverse, and start to roll backwards, i get this horrible grinding noise coming from the front end. I can feel it in the pedals as well as the passenger floor board. It has gotten progessivly worse in the past 3 days, but never started until less than a week ago.

But today i also noticed that since my car was pushing -2.5 degree of camber in the front, when i would take hard turns left and right (mostly in turn around situations) the wheels would nick my swaybar. So i pulled my camber out to about -1.0 .... well that wasn't it (atleast i solved one problem).. I took my wheels off and rolled each of the caliper's backwards, still nothing.

I can hear the noise from outside of the car in reverse (mostly on the drivers side).. but as soon i put it in first it goes away. Can a wheel bearing go bad in only one direction?! Right now i am stumped. I can not figure out what the sound is. It sounds as if my caliper has fallen off and is dragging on the wheel, but that cant be it because the caliper is loc-tite'd on.

    Help please?! :(

should this be in technical :(!?:(:*:(:(:(:(:((

Wow, Nice little problem you have goin on there! You say it developed over time right? What pedals can you feel it in? Do you notice anything else in any other gear?

I can feel it in the clutch and gas pedal... but on the gas it could just be my heel vibrating from the floor board. But it is only in reverse, it imediately goes away when i put it into 1st. I want to say about 6 days ago max is when i first heard it, very faintly. And now it is very loud and it sounds horrible. Im going to tear apart the front end this weekend and find out wtf is wrong. Until then, no reverse for me.

So you are fully engaged in reverse? Reverse isn't synchronised, so if the car is moving, you might have trouble (grinding) trying to force it in.

        Keep it slideways!!

The car is moving when this happens. Cutch goes in, gear slides right into place with no hassle, and then i start to roll back and then it grinds.

have you let the clutch out yet, sounds like it's not fully engaging the reverse gear....

Reverse is fully engaged, pedal is let out completely.

I was messing with it just now, and i have come to a conclusion that it is comign from somwhere in my drivers side wheel well. It could be an improperly seated brake pad..?

Take the caliper off, may be a pad that isn't sitting right for some reason.

My right front caliper sticks a little and if you slow down real quick, it sounds like something is grinding. Could be a wheel bearing, but I think the caliper is more at fault because mine is only like that when you brake. Is your's only when braking? Or even just rolling slowly backwards? What about rolling backwards, clutch pedal in, and trans in 1st gear?
