    1991 318is Eternal Window Residue

I have a perfect E30 with the exception of residue on my windows no matter how well or how often I clean them. I'm hoping I'm not the only one with this issue. I can only describe it as a cloudy white film. If I wipe my finger across the inside of my windshield for example, the film smudges off. Anyone?

Can you see it on your finger when you swipe? What if you wipe with rubbing alcohol? Sounds like it might have gotten clouded by a cleaning product and needs some polishing.

Could be a leaking heater core.
Check for damp carpet in the driver side footwell.

i have seen BMW glass start to separate and let water into the layers and cloud up inside the glass, but if you can wipe it off with your finger i think your just need a more aggressive cleaner

I had the same thing...cigarette smoke was the culprit I believe...try using alcohol or if you are very careful, lacquer thinner (it will stain your dash though so be careful)

Its going to be this.. But some vinyl protectant also gives off some crap that forms on your windows.

Could have tint before you got it and someone peeled it off without cleaning off the adhesive.

My car did this when I first got it. Could not get it clean. Invisible Glass finally took care of it. I was impressed. I've always used Windex to clean my windows and they have always turned out great, but Invisible Glass works even better.

Is there a dead pig hidden inside somewhere?

My 2002 did this and my E30 does it, and I attribute it to dust from the defroster vents accumulating on the glass over time. I don't use Armor All or whatever on the dash, so I know that's not it.
