... actually ... i just hit the shelves @ sears in san bruno for a diehard group 90 battery for my cabrio & was told that they don't carry group 90 anymore ... would appreciate it if anyone can suggest any other shops in the bay area that may carry/have one in stock

But, any 48/91 will get you what you need.

hmmm ... for the past 14 years i've been working under the assumption that group 91 batteries are for all models of the e30 except for the cabrio which takes a group 90 so that it fits in the engine bay tray ... the group 90 battery is shorter than the group 91, right?

I bought a battery at monument car parts that fit in front just fine in an 85 318i. It's called a 91A and it's an ac delco and cost around $80. I suspect till last 2-3 years.

thanks for all the help, especially farbin who first pointed me in the right direction ... interstate group 91 fit perfectly in the engine bay ...also ... the new cross-referenced battery for a 91 is now called a 91a like navarone pointed out ... thanks again ... much appreciated
