Does anyone have an m30 throttle body?

if you do, could you compare it with the m20 2.5L (i) throttle body, and takes some pictures for me, i was looking at an e34 535i yesterday, and it seems like they are almost the same, just the m30 just has it filpped to the side, and *may be bigger*

if someone could do this for me, i'll try and get an m30 tb and test out some gains, and combatability with an m20....it could produce some interested gains, more so when i have my stroker in.

    thanks alot.

Two of them but both in Germany. They are larger diameter hence more airflow for the larger airpump (engine).

What are your goals? Throttle body is one restriction as well as exhaust. Many have added the throttle body but I am unsure how much you will gain from just a TB as it need the cam and the exhaust mods as well. They all work together as one. 4 move moments 5 events.

Yes, but are you familiar with 'chasing the rabbit'?

It won't bolt up. I looked at them yesterday.

Sure am Stu, and no sense doing it unless you have a goal established. You did, and completed it. I have mine and will be done soon. You can't start just adding numbers together like bolt on cars and expect to have a majorly fast auto.

It will likely be slower in some respects. Must have an end line goal.

Yea I would imagine most of us have Dave's page in our favorites section. I do. I use it from time to time. Kinda think it's funny he's into bikes now. I am selling mine shortly , I have a 1999 Ducati 748 sp BiMoto. EU spec thou. So I am not bringing it back to the US plus my wife doesn't like the idea of me screwing around on it anymore.

She doesn't like zip splats. A Harley is a differant story thou, yuck in my opinion.

                      748 sp BiMoto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                      You rule.
I've wanted a 748 for the longest time. 996 is to much to handle off the bat.

                      imho, nothing beats a Duc.

doh! :D No, that's not what I'm talking about. Say he does 4-5 mods at the same time, and only gains a little bit of power or LOSES power in some areas. What can you blame it on if you just slapped on 5 different parts!? ;)

well i'm currently exploring my options as i am in the middle of building my stroker m20, i plan on getting a 272 cam, headers, extensive headwork, 10.3:1 compresion pistons and so on.

tcd are you sure they don't bolt up???
btw do you have any pictures i am still curious,

Yup that was my point of buying it too. 98 hp was more than adequate, I bought it with my work bonus for making quota. Too bad I only have got to ride it about ten times in 3 years. That's another reason for for selling it.

Yep understood that's why I say stick to a goal. That's what research is for. You just don't start sticking things on there and hope one will help the other.

Yep won't bolt up I've got one sitting in the garage and tried it the other day. The bore on the throttle is larger then an I. The bolt holes come close to lining up but not close enough. The M30 bolt holes are about 1/16 of an inch farther out then the 325i holes. You could maybe some how Slot the M30 holes and make it fit but You'll need to match the intake to the throttle body. Plus you'll have to drill and tap some fittings into the manifold on a 325i for the brake booster.
