I drive a Tercel and it cost me $1400, came with 6 winter tires (studded) and 4 summer tires, all rimmed up. Bolt pattern is 4x100 and so I ran my bottlecaps this winter. $50 for brakes, 10k on same oil. 0 fucks given. Still going strong after 160k+ miles. -
Careful about late 90's early 00 Toyotas with the 1zz engine, they had oil burning issues and crap out around 100k. The 1.6 and 1.8 Toyotas, and mfgs they shared those engines with around that time had ring issues, so when you find a car in your price range me sure to look up common failures.

Which has only happened once cause I had no clue my car was low on fluid. My eyes are always on the temp gauge now.Leave a comment:

Shitbox commuter vehicle: level 99

Seriously dude you live in Cali, I'd be rocking my bike every day if I lived there. Purchase for sub-$2k and 50ish mpg? Yes pleaseLeave a comment:

Generally you can still be fine if it wasn't bad, I'm taking about the people that bury the temp needle.

My e36 has over heated a few times due to blowing radiators I fixed that problem with a mishimoto but still I got ZERO head issues and the cars over heated atleast 4 times. Now I do shut it off before it ever gets close to red and limp it home.Leave a comment:

That's what a responsible car owner would do. People that aren't responsible don't do that. They keep driving. If they were driving a BMW, they wouldn't be driving anymore. If they were driving a civic, they would just put more water in it and continue on their merry way. That's why you see so many old rusted out civics corollas tercels etc in the ghetto. You can treat them like garb age but they keep running.Leave a comment:

I love when people say this. Know what you do when your car is overheating and you can't bring it back to normal operating temperatures? Turn it off and call a tow truck and fix the problem before your HG blows. It's quite simple actually.Leave a comment:

I'd rather cut my balls off than drive an automatic Corolla. Or any Corolla, really.Leave a comment:

90-93 Honda Accord.
2.2 litre beater that won't quit. mine has over 300k miles and still achieves 35mpg highway without hardly trying and has a ton of space to lug around parts and people. super cheap and they're stupid easy to work on.Leave a comment:
