    Close call of the day...

I was going to work today, and I had just hit the very nice 8-mile stretch of windy freeway. I decided to wind the car out and have some fun. I got to about 115mph (the speedo was reading 180km/h), and I shifted from fourth to THIRD(instead of fifth) by mistake!! Fortunately I 'felt' something was up and took it back out of gear before releasing the clutch.

Talk about MONEY SHIFT if I had released the clutch LOL. But I didn't, and all is fine.

Let this be a warning to those ppl using an SSK, dem gears are pretty closely spaced!

-Wow... close one! That would have sucked if you over-revd your new engine and broke some rockers!

OT - but the guy that got the "Most Spectacular Failure Award" did something similar. He was supposed to go 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, hit the nitrous. He actually went 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, Nitrous. Yowzah! You win.

Haven't done a close-to-moneyshift yet. knock on wood...

Maybe it's because by the time I hit 4th, my SuperEta really isn't going anywhere fast? lol

Nice save man! HOPEFULLY you woulda blown your clutch before the motor, but you never know! My dad did that on his old 325is (1992) and blew the clutch and flywheel before the motor. Lucked out!

          Close call, wow!

I dont mind sounding like an idiot, but a few weeks, maybe a month or two after I got my car (which is also my first manual car) I did just that, at about a buck 10 I hit third, and I did release the clutch for a half second and zinged it but got it back in real fast. Oh man that was ugly and felt like forever, but nothing happened fortunately. :o
