I'm just wondering if the E36's oil caps are bigger or the same size as E30's M20?

No no no... It's 35hp if the cap is from a euro e36 m3, but then you need 6 of them. (IOC's; Independent Oil Cap's). If you just do the one US spec cap you won't see any gains from it.
