Sport, hah it's big business. States would do battle for a major league team that is big time.

Look what happened with CT and the NE Patriots playing them as fools. heck even cycling is big business.

With the starting rotation the Cubs already have and with the likely addition of Maddux in the coming days on top of their other offseason aquisitions I can say with confidence that the Cubs will FINALLY be the team to beat.

              1) The most recent rumors are that hed be headin over to the Dodgers, but anythings possible

              2) The cubs are good but there are at least three and possibly 4 starting rotations that are better, namely the Yankees with Brown Mussina and Vazquez, the Red Sox with Shilling Martinez, Lowe and Wakefield, the Athletics with Mulder, Hudson, and Zito, and possibly the Astros who have Pettite, Clemens, Miller, and Oswalt.

              3) While Derrick Lee is a good addition you still dont have that good and offense

Yeah Im up by Potsdam, bout ten miles west actually. Kinda sucks being a die hard sox fan in Yankee country

oh and for all the sox fans I think Bill Simmons has reached god status with this one article

With A-Rod on the Yankees, a cool, calm and collected Sports Guy stands as the voice of reason.

The Dodgers don't have the money to pay Maddux what he or his agent wants and the recent Yankees rumor is bs that Boras made up to get the Cubs to raise their offer. I do agree that the first three rotations are good, but I still believe the Cubs' is and will be better this season. The Astros rotation is way overated. Oswalt is very good, but also injury prone, Pettitte and Clemens are nothing special and will get rocked in the juicebox and Miller is inconsistent. The Cubs offense will be much improved this year with Lee, Walker, Barrett, the return of Patterson, and a full year with Ramirez. That being said I'm sure you'd agree that good pitching always beats good hitting.
