"The all-new 3 Series Coupe is hitting the roads in September and when it does, be prepared for a re-sculpted look, a twin-turbo engine and, perhaps the biggest news of all, all-wheel drive."

huh?? bmw, twin turbo? wtf?? all wheel drive? what the hell is happening. i found this on zilvia and almost bashed them all. but i read it myself on the bmwusa website. new vehicles, 3er coupe.

this is probably a repost, but i couldnt seem to find it.

Twin turbo I can deal with, but all-wheel drive? That kinda sucks. the BMW website used to have a whole section dedicated to the advantages of rear-wheel drive.

The original quote makes it sound like they will all be awd.

OT: Hey lucky7, I noticed you live in Rochester, MI. Have you ever been to the Kart2Kart go-karting establishment? I'm there just about every weekend when I'm at school in Flint. I also noticed that you're building a 240sx. Is that for drifting? If so, check out outbrakemotorsports.com. They head events near Cincinatti. I'll be driving at the May 14th event and possibly the June 11th event.

the awd was optional in the past. this just makes it obvious they do not want to put bigger engines in the cars. this should be very very interesting. i cant wait to see what the aftermarket does with these cars. but holy shit, this still shocks me.

nope, havnt been to kart 2 kart personally. i know alot of people that have been though. i hear its a great time. i just dont have money. this S14 is owning me. as far as drifting. nope. no drifting for me. im building it up to be well, a nice street car. ive wanted a 'fast' car for a very very long time. this should fit the bill. haha, if i do any track time, it will be in the civic.

I highly doubt BMW would ever go Subaru on us, but the awd system on my ix was fucking sick. Id rock one in a second as a "winter beater".

The x-drive will only be an option on the N/A 328i.

Yeah, the twin turbos will be on the new 330i coupe. They make 42hp above the stock 330i sedan right now, I believe. Same hp as a small V8, but a nice flat torque curve with less gas consumption, as well as lighter. Welcome to the golden years of the turbo...

No, the e23 745i was a turbo'ed m30, and BMW has had quite a few turbo diesels since then, including their new bi-turbo in the e60 535d.
