Isuzu Trooper

Hi Guys,

I just came across a 1990 Isuzu Trooper with no rust and a ok engine (so they say). They say the motor gasket needs to be changed. I don't know which gasket they refer to.

Do you have any experience with that type of truck? The deal seems too good to be true, which typically is not good. They ask 500$.

I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I'm a sucker for boxy things. Before I get into a fight with my girlfriend about having to many vehicules, I would like to know if I should go for it.

I have a bit of experience working on cars, but not a lot. I mainly work on my miata.
I think that for the price asked, if I can drive it for 2 years (not as a dd) without spending a fortune on it, I would be comfortable buying it.

Called the guy.
Head gasket it is. There is prestone in the motor oil. The truck is not running right now but it can be started.
It looks like it belongs to a young guy, maybe 20. He bought it 3 months ago, drove it somewhere and noticed the oil was not normal when he came back.
I doubt I can do the repair myself...

I'm pissed because it's a rust free truck with a new clutch, alternator, starter, good tires...

I had a trooper in high school, it was my first manual lol also was a 4cyl. It's a good beater. I think we ended up selling it for like $700-$800 get a running one if you don't want to mess with it too much, but if you want a toy get that one.

if it's 4 cylinder they are dogs, no power, top heavy, and almost too light for a legit off road vehicle. aluminum head subject to warping if it runs hot.

I had a lot of fun with mine but would not buy again unless v6.

How about vintage land cruisers, I have two. One diesel and one gas plus an 86 toyo pickup. They are bombproof
