Will BMW ever make a Homage to a e30? Why did u buy an e30?

Why would they? The E30 didn't save BMW, the 02 did. It wasn't revolutionary either. They just sold them in droves because they were fairly cheap and the economy was doing very well at the time.
I thought the back was the front of another car.Maybe not BMW, but check this out... http://www.carscoops.com/2014/03/mod...-actually.html
Not saying it's pretty either.Leave a comment:

it will have to look more like an E30 than this garbage. I would say that it was more of a 2002Maybe not BMW, but check this out... http://www.carscoops.com/2014/03/mod...-actually.html

It was simply the natural progression. I came from a MK2 Escort, to AE86, to E30 323i. Now B27i/731 swapped 318iS.
There won't ever be a new E30 because governments are ghey lords and won't let a manufacturer sell anything that raw.Leave a comment:

I remember in 8th grade me and my friend decided the E30 M3 would be a perfect first project car because it was old and cheap, looked the best out of all the M3s and was the lightest of the always great handling M3s.
Obviously by the time we were closing in on getting our first cars (only a couple years ago) M3s had escaped reality not just in first car price but also in "how much can a car even be worth?" Not only was I crushed but I had also taken a liking to my dad's base auto 190e that I had been handed as my learning car. I still paid a slight E30 tax ($2100 for a stick eta) because I still wanted one so damn bad.
Now when I walk up to it it stuns me every time I look at it's body in Alpine White with the ES diving board and every time I take it through the twisty's I can't believe how it handles in comparison to the 190e and all of my friends cars. Even with 195s while all of the others have nice rubber it doesn't fall back. It changes lanes with the agility of an aircraft and tells me where the grip is always.
On top of all that it comes with one of the best engines ever- the M20. Still getting me close to 30 mpg and gearing up to go 30 million miles so it can save me money while I'm getting accustomed to the car and preparing to build it. Quietest car I have ever heard with a glasspack muffler but it is fun in tunnels.
It's back seats and solid door thuds are not on par with the 190e, and I can't think of a single other thing wrong with it. I can fit my 6"7 friend comfortably in the passenger seat and walk away from collisions all day with the archaic metal bumpers: in fact I got into a few dozen in one night because I was able to just have my car pushed home by a friend when it wouldn't start.
It has done all the right things from the start and 3 decades later is still around to embarrass the new car age which has forgotten how.Leave a comment:

I hope not. Re-makes suck. Well for movies anyways. I think Dodge did a good job with the Challenger. If you're into that kinda of thing.
e30's have a cult following - a small, almost rabid, zombie-like, somewhat addictive group of people that spend irrational amount of time and money on their 20 year old car. That just adds to how cool the e30 is. ;) ( I might be part of the for-mentioned irrational, addicted types) ;)
No where near popular enough to do a homage kind of car IMHO.Last edited by george graves; 08-17-2014, 01:38 AM.Leave a comment:

Fell in love with it because of the design.
Still remember the first one I ever noticed.
It was a blue touring, and it was in the fall, I can still vividly remember that car.
Ended up with a AC Schnitzer 2 door, and here I am 12 years later with 5 E30's, 3 of them tourings :-)Leave a comment:

if they were able to make it as good of a drive as an e30, i would buy one. but they can't. maybe the only thing that is as "pure" feeling is a miata. but i haven't really driven a new one.Leave a comment:
