If you put any sense into it, BMW is copying GM. After all the Pontiac is was on the market before the 5 series.

*both* companies have had "dual-kidney" grilles on their cars since before i was born-

obviously i don't need to make examples for the german side, so see early-70s firebird, late-sixties GTO, etc, etc...

nobody's "stealing" IMO- the pontiac grilles started out huge and the bmw ones very narrow (2002). over the years they've happened to meet in the middle.
