    German's: is this idea rational?

I'm curious if this is doable. When I finally finish my undergrad (year and a half away, since I changed majors etc) I'd like to go to europe and just travel for a few months. I would ideally like to buy an e30m3 vert and drive it on my travels, then ship it to canada when I come back.

Would I be able to register a car in germany without residency there? Is there any way around it?

Also, for a few hundred bucks or something, would anyone be willing to scout e30m3 verts so I could get it when I got there? I'd pay a finders fee of course.

ha first good luck on the vert finding, and second of all, you would have to be a citizen and have a residence. thats the only way I know. or, OR have a US DoD card, and register under USAEUR lol.

Supposivly to a few sources I've just now read there were ~786 E30 M3 cabriolets ever produced. That is a really small number. Good luck dude. Don't be afraid to write a big check.

There are only like 2 on e30-talk.com so I am going to go out on a limb and say you are going to have to murder some 40 year old and talk his wife into selling it to you.

        Good luck..
        Im now E30less.

Tourist Visa and awork permit, will allow you to work in the country and possibly get tags. You can ship a car there and drive over there with US tags for upto 90 days on an international license.

hmm, maybe I'll just search for a while for an Alfa Romero GTV. I LOVE those cars, maybe they're cheaper in Europe. I wonder if they even have Left hand drive ones out there

or maybe I'd try to think of something else cool, i really want a convertable something

Yes. I was thinking this exact thing. Good luck with the ///M3 'vert. Just find a Sport Evo or Evo II. Much better in terms of "man" status and easier to find from what I see in the EUro Classifieds.

yea there are like 100 people in line to buy that thing. lol, sorry I could never ever sell it. When I talk about buying a new car, it's in addition to the cars I have now lol.

but it's a ways away, I can't buy cars for a while. I'm about to buy a house with a 3 car garage that would already be full
