but if you remember back in the days of dot matrix printing, a color page would take like 10 minutes and it looked like hell. Now a color print takes like 5 seconds, if that, plus the quality has increased 1000x. there's no reason to think 3D printing won't see the same improvements in speed and quality.
We need a Steve Jobs for 3D printers. It will happen. Hell it could be one of us that makes that 3D printer better. Just hire a really good engineer.

Incorrect sir. Poorly extruded, a badly calibrated printer, crappy filament or a combination of all 3 can result in brittle parts. Get everything perfect and you have a damn strong part.
The trouble is there's plenty of great 3D printers designed by engineers, it's just no one wants to pay for that level of quality.
That's exactly how it was when Jobs revolutionized the lazer printer too. Just needs to be done at a reasonable price. I guess that would be the key.

I was visiting with my boss and coworker. I felt really lucky that they invited me, I hope you can make it sometime... the show was impressive and so was Chicago!
I guess the car should be fully assembled now (show's over).. it's surprisingly hard to find images.
