Any one have any tricks to get better welds on the body on these cars?
I worked in a Body shop for 10 years and have done tons of welding on all kinds of cars and am having a hard time with this 89 318i(Australian model built in Germany). I'm putting a cage in and have done an e36 without issue but this specific car is killing me. I can get good penetration and obviously using a proper mig with 75/25 argon co2, .08mm wire, but the welds just look ugly
Where I weld the plates to the floor or stitching a bit of the car no matter how much I clean both both sides once I get a weld going its starts spitting and turns black. I've tried 3 welders on this thing Mig and Tig.
Im not just running the weld either i'm hitting in zaps like i've always done, but its like the metal on this car is just weird? Looking on the internet everyone else's weld look pretty crap too whats the deal?
