Agreed, :P but I have seen worse. This summer there was a aluminum-bumpered e30 cabrio for sale for 14 f'n grand. It was nothing special at all, stock wheels, stock suspension, some crappy-ass DTM muffler, and like 70k miles. I was seriously thinking of walking into the guy's house and beating the living shit out of him. Needless to say, the thing sat out on the side of the road for the rest of the summer, and then disappeared.

I guess I'll wait on it, but GOD it looks sooo good.

Doesn't the mtechnic edition have special suspension? Also, I guess it comes with a standard m20 engine? I believe most of the mtechnics that made it here were autos.

Some other things I noticed were that the center and ebrake console were leather wrapped. The whole trunk was lined and there was a shock for the decklid too.

Its in mckinney tx I believe.

I would. Make it a garage queen, and keep it perfect. Once more and more dissappear, you wont regret buying it. Even if it is an auto ;)

              The M-Technic was a N.American model only.....it came with:

              M-Tech suspension
              M-Tech bodykit
              M-Tech doorsills
Motorsport cloth interior w/ leather bolsters
              M-Technic badges frt & rear
              Leather wrapped console
              15x7 BBS cross-spokes
              Stock M20B25 engine
Switchable auto gearbox "S, E, 1-2-3" or manual gearbox

The only other cars that are similar from BMW is the UK's 325i Sport Cabriolet but it was lacking the Motorsport cloth interior. My understanding is that only the E30 M3 Evo II came with that interior.

Rob, the reason to buy that type of car is the simple fact that it will increase in value or if you just want a rare E30. In 5 years it will be worth more than $9,500....afterall, they sell to collectors for more than that already.

EDIT: all cabs have the shock lifter for the trunk lid

Is this a Cabrio? If so they seem to hold there value as they have the updated look. Most are low mileage autos too.

Do you want an auto? The later 4spd electronic unit shift better than the early ones but as far as durabilty? Cost you about $450 as minimum to do swap with your own labor.

my mechanics daughter drives a 91 genuine mtech with an automatic, she paid about 9grand for hers too. Its a pretty nice car, but i dont think its worth that much. I paid 2,750 for my 87mile 91 325icab. All it needed was a top. She was so jealous of the condition and price that i got my car for.
i say if your gonna use it as a daily car, dont get it. But if your gonna let it sit in the garage and collect dust(aka $$) go for it

I suppose. I've never seen cars, any cars, as an investment though. thats what stocks/etc are for. Just me though. Cant haul ass in a mutual fund... :P

You'll be waiting quite awhile for an E30 to gain in any significantly in value. Cars are a bad investment as a general rule of thumb.

Sure they are bad investments as they are a depreciating asset....so all the better to buy one that has stopped depreciating and will now only increase in value. My family keeps around 13 vintage & classic motorcars at our home in UK and I'd say they are quite safe investments and worthwhile as you get much more pleasure driving a 1934 Bentley Blower, 1928 RR Silver Ghost or a 1963 Jaguar E-Type then you do in owning stock in any company.

M-Technik 3 - what other countries recieved the M-Technic Cabriolet??

EDIT: Rob....yeah but after appx 30-35 years that mutual fund could provide you with the means to move quite fast :)

twice or more- i drove a hard bargain and got mine for $3100 because it needed new ball joints and had a bent wheel. i wasn't interested in another 4-cyl, so IMO i got the best e30 i could have.

seriously, unless your intention is to collect/invest... that's a pantload of cash, man.

Seen quite a few in Germany but they possible could not be factory but they could be. factory will build you just about anything for a price.

Hence our 330iSP E46 here only comes in 4 doors with the M-tech kit but in Germany I have seen it on a lowly 320d E46 4 door at dealer.

Somehow the car has sealed beams  . I would add some euro ellipses and blackout taillights and suspension. If I do buy it, its gonna be a daily driver so I think I'll wait a couple of years until I have a garage to park in.

I think its got about 75k on it.

yeah its a cabrio. The hard top got sold and the soft top is brand new since it was never used in all those years.
