    E30 fuel milage

As the price of fuel rises daily (past $3.00pg here in Tacoma) I have two questions. I have a 1990 325i and was wondering what kind of fuel economy I should expect. I get 19 to 20 in nothing but city driving (rarely over 40mph) and 24 to 26 on the freeway. Is this normal? Also do I have to use premium gas for this car or would a lower grade be allright?

While not spectacular that sounds about average for a 325i driven normally. You can also run regular as long as you dont have a different chip in the car that states otherwise.

and yes, you can run 87 just fine.

There is no way you're getting that kind of milage with a modded 2.7 - do some simple math and calculate it with the trip odometer

my OBC states after many times of resetting an recalculating that i get roughly 13-14 mpg city driving, not hard at all. I keep the rpms low (3.5k and below-ish), except for the short bursts of redlining once every few days... My gas drains pretty quick, and i haven't tried calculating using the odometer...OBC=ghey? or unknown problem=ghey?

OBC=Ghey if you have different tires, wrong coding plug, or if out of calibration. There is a way to reset the thing...somewhere on web.

My obc, on stock tires, with shows 26 or so, cruising on flat interstate at 70 MPH. I know speedo calibration is way off, and odo does not work.

well, mine is an iX, so YMMW (lol)

but I get about 20-21 in mixed driving (mostly highway). Got as high as 22 strictly highway (75-80 mph). Of course the OBC claims I was getting 27 mpg...clearly a lie.

A 325i with no mods other than exhaust and K&N drop in that would affect fuel I am getting 23-25 in the city and on a steady highway doing around 70 I get almost 33. But you have to take into acount the 2.93 rear dif, thats helping out a bunch.

Man you should give your car a tuneup or something. My ix with almost 230k would get 26 highway all day long. OBC read 27, so it wasnt that far off.

im in gig harbor/tacoma too and i usually can get 400 miles on a tank of gas if its all freeway, and around 290 to 300 miles if its all city im all stock but i use premium anyway
Everything in the harbor is over 3 dollars now except AMPM and there is no way im useing there gas so if you can keep filling up in tacoma man.

The best I ever got was 630 KM and that was all highway and the light didn't come on.
