Engine bay color scheme ideas~~White paint??

Hey guys, replacing a blown headgasket in my M30 at the moment, figured I'd take this chance to make it look decent. Any color scheme ideas? I have a Bronzit coupe. I was thinking white manifold and rocker cover with red trim (on the raised stripe bits) does anyone know how well white paint fairs in the engine bay? Is it impossible to keep clean? Photo suggestions are welcome

Too many colors.. bronze, red, white....

I think white looks great for calipers. Just would have to see it under the hood.

Saw a yellow car w/ red engine pieces. Total Ronald McDonald look.

well, its your car so i guess it is up to you to do what you want. however, since you asked for our opinions, r3v is always happy to give those out in spades.

personally, (with all due respect of course) i think your idea is going to look really ghetto. if i were you, i would go and get either black or red crinkle paint and paint the valve cover/intake manifold. you can go back with a sanding block once you are done and knock the paint off the raised areas. i would then call it a day.

White would not be my choice because it will get dirty as soon as you close the hood. It will likely yellow and fade quick. I would go silver or black. I don't do white on anything but house widow trim indoors.

Either black or body color in the engine bay, for sure. I'd probably stay body color because it's hard to make a black engine bay look like it belongs. For example, do you paint just until the flatter portions of the engine bay, or go all the way to the fenders? Do you leave the rain gutters on the fenders alone? What about the bottom side of the hood, or the area near the firewall?

Also, I agree with flyboy that a black (either gloss, satin, or wrinkle) valve cover and intake with polished reliefs would look best, regardless of engine bay color choice. It's clean, simple, attractive, and unobtrusive.

But also if your block is white, its is easier to spot for leaks.

Not easier enough to have to live with a white engine block the rest of the time.

I've always wanted to do black bedliner stuff. I did it on a 2002, and if you mask off well, it looks good. Not as good as a shaved engine bay, but the black kinda makes all the black hoses and stuff disappear.

Engine bays should be body color imo. A black bay on a car that isn't black looks like someone cut corners rather than just painted it the correct color.

Guys I'm just talking painting the intake manifold and rocker cover and a few other bits. Not the body at all

                      Oh.

Then definitely black with polished/silver raised bits. Or white I guess if you really want it. Just make sure it's good high-temp paint or powder coat.

Oh sure, I agree....just sometimes your engine bay paint is beyond saving, and you don't have the time/money for a engine bay re-spray. That's a TON of work and time to do it right.
