Just to get it moving again if I were you I'd pick up a block or full b25, but since you have most the parts except the block I'd go the easiest route just to have it moving.

Why not throw your current "i" head on the s-eta bottom end and call it a day? Seems like that would work well enough.

My car is sitting at home.

          M5 is more fun.
And yes, it consumes fuel at an alarming rate.

That's what Dan mentioned first - but why not throw a few upgrades on there while I'm at it - cam, head refresh, etc.

I did some curious poking around and found some local m50's for under $500. I may choose a different fork in the road if I can get into it cheap. Exhaust work is all but free (meineke) and if I buy an e34 m50 I'm saving some issues there...

              seriously buddy.
go back, and re-read the last line of my first post.

You're going at this bass-ackwards. Its a disaster waiting to happen. Trust me.

                  simplicity!

either buy a running m20b25 and drop that in, or put your good head on a super E/i block.

Don't think about rebuilds/upgrades/etc. Its not the time to start throwing parts at a motor that you need ASAP so you can get to work and make money. If you and Dan come up with a good solution/build idea... awesome. But don't do it under time constraints. Build it as-you-go. I PROMISE you, there will be problems, issues, hang-ups, waiting periods you dont anticipate.

                  Simplicity Simplicity Simplicity.

Hell, maybe Fani-G from BPG even has his old M20???

Simplicity is for the weak. Consideration of time constraints is for the weak. Consideration of practicality is for the weak. Consideration of possible future problems is for the weak.

Sounds like you've got a great plan, I'll bet you're great at spending friends money.

                      :P

For the record- let me reiterate my plan:

Budget stroker- using the Super Eta you already own that you said runs strong. Since your "i" engine evidently threw a rod, I would probably NOT use the head off of that car- just use the whole super-eta engine, throw in the "i" cam and springs, "i" Intake, injectors, ecu, etc and you're back on the road in no time. Have the head cleaned/checked by a competent machine shop, hopefully it will be fine with new valve stem seals and lapping the valves.

This ASSUMES that time is a factor, and you need to get this done fairly quickly.

You can always do a swap when the right engine + other parts come up for the right price, if you try to scramble to get everything together for an M/S 50/52 swap, you WILL end up paying more for stuff than you wanted to.

                      My 0.02.

                      Bret.

Heehee, Dan's m20 did the EXACT same thing as Scotty's- threw a rod right through side of the block.

Pretty sure he tossed the whole thing in the dumpster- really the best place for a M20.

Scott, don't be a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles- buy my m50 parts.

Hide a couple "Van Gogh's" in the trunk and burn the whole fucking thing to the ground.
