Can't go wrong with a Craftsman set, especially with the upcoming sales.

      ^ what he said.

I bought a 250 piece mobile Craftsman tool set on sale that I take with me to perform side jobs, to the track, and on long distance trips. Has both metric & standard, allens, and some torx bits as well.

I bought it for a tad over $100 on sale.

I buy my tools at Harborfreight. People says it is cheap and not of high quality. So far, all of my tools work as advertised. I have not experienced any bad tool yet.

Go to Harborfreight to get your tools. I pieced together a nice set along with a nice tool box from Amazon less than $200. Make sure to print out a 20% off coupon everytime you shop at Harbor Freight.

Watch for deals here daily: http://deals.kinja.com/

It's the same feed they put on Jalopnik (and Deadspin, etc.). From what I've read, anything under $0.50 per tool is a good deal for the 150+ item sets.

If you have a Costco membership go pick up the 150 piece Craftsman set from Costco for $70-100 depending on what level of discounting they currently have going on. It's old stock that's still Made in the US and much nicer then the newer Craftsman stuff sitting on the shelves of most Sears stores now that's made in China.

The Husky stuff at Home Depot looks pretty decent these days, Lowe's Kobalt line used to be pretty solid but their newer stuff is a bit more hit or miss quality/pricewise.

+ 1 on Costco. PLUS, you can return forever. They will take it back after years and years.
