Many years ago I owned an e36. Was filling up at a gas station and saw this guy with timeless hair filling up his e39. We got to chatting and he invited me to a local meet/run the following weekend. He showed up with the infamous BRAKEL8 red e30 332is. There were several "stop light towns" that saw all 13 cars for all of about 20 seconds. Through this connection I met an Indian dude who did 100% of the work on his e30 with a putty knife and a check book - great guy. I haven't owned too many cars, but the BMW and e30 community is so damn friendly in person and the highest caliber of assholes online - there is simply no replacement.

I did meet a guy with a 2002 that told me not to get one because it was "an architects car." That dude was an a-hole in real life.

I was amazed how many people will come up and start conversations over my car. Can't tell you how many. I get tons of compliments on the car.

I've also had over 25 people offer to buy the car. Even when driving in traffic. One night in Toronto this group of guys in a E46 were along side and traffic and we started talking. One guy in the back wanted to buy mine. LOL

Best want to buy story was involving a cop. I was driving through Beaverton, Ontario (small town in central Ontario) and this Durham Region cop pulls me over. He asks me if I knew why he pulled me over. I knew for sure I was doing nothing wrong and told him so. He said I was right and said he was checking out my car. Apparently he'd owned several E30s, but never coupe and had always wanted one. We shot the shit for a few minutes about the E30, then I went on my way.

Women I've seen in the last two years seem to dig the car too...;D;D;D

For me, it's only young kids and teenagers giving me thumbs up...no attractive women.

I'm not sure if it's this way anymore.... But it use to be that if you joined the BMWCCA, you could get a little, multi-page, totally amateur-ish printed booklet of BMW enthusiasts in every state to call if you get really stuck on a road trip. Use to have one in my e21(never needed it - that car was AWESOME!) Anyways....Some were BMW shops - others just guys that would be willing to drop what they were doing to help a traveling BBWCCA member out. It wasn't there to call for help cause your doing a motor swap - it was just for emergencies when out of state. Like "my motor mount broke, anyone have a used one or something that I can limp along with till I get home???? I'm stuck at the gas-and-sip!"

It would be awesome if some web designer on here would take up the task of making an online, cell phone accessible list like that.

I have three that I can think of right now

                      1. First time hanging out with my girlfriend (to be) right after we both met, we went to chipotle and there was another e30 in the lot. So of course I had to go out of my way to park next to it. After we ate and were leaving two guys in that e30 were leaving where ever too. We talked about our cars in the parking lot for about 5-10 minutes. Luckily our e30 obsession didn't scare the girl away and for her sake she saw this obsession early enough and decided to stay.

                      2. I went to get some beer at the store and the manager must have seen me pull into the lot so when I was checking out he gave me a discount for having an e30 and then walked outside to check my car out. Woohoo discounts

                      3. Driving to work one day a new Mercedes was behind me and flashing his lights at me. I just thought it was some idiot driving. But as we came up to a streetlight he pulled into the turn lane next to me and started trying to buy my car. If I was a fast thinker I would have gave him some high number and who knows maybe he would have agreed.

Watched "Kei to the City" with my roommate on a Friday back at the end of March. I had never been big into cars, but I decided I needed a car more fun to drive than my Rocky. Looked into getting an E36, but I kept seeing E30s during my search and fell in love with them. By Sunday I had my heart set on getting an E30. By Tuesday I had found an E30 in LA (I live in Tucson, AZ). My roommate and I bought one-way tickets to LA and flew in that Saturday. Looked at the car and bought it on Sunday. It was a 1988 SETA. PO stroked it, lowered it, and put in a 4.10 LSD. Drove it home 8 hours the next day. All was well until we heard a pop, a few dash lights came on and the temp started to soar. Killed the engine and pulled over on the side of the highway to see what happened. Alternator/water pump and power steering belts decided to commit suicide. Luckily we were close enough to town that we called for help and parts. We fixed in on the side of the road and drove the last bit into town. It was quite the adventure.

The day I bought my e30 vert the rear wheel fell off on the freeway lol turns out the PO handed tightened the lug nuts because he switched the wheels before I came to get the car. He met me on the freeway payed for the tow truck and gave me 500 back for the trouble haha can't complain.
