Brazil to produce it's first "sports car"

Just thought I'd share... it's still a prototype. They have invited my mother's company participation on the project. Pretty interesting.

    Here are some pics:

Here are some estimated specs ( I'm translating from portuguese ):

    DOHC Inline-4
    5 valves per piston
    Aluminum engine head
    Turbocharged
    Displacement: 1.781 cm3
    Diameter and bore?: 81 x 86,4 mm
    Compression Rate: 9,5:1
    Estimated performance: 180 CV a 5.700 RPM
    Estimated Torque: 24 Mkgf DE 1.750 a 4.600 RPM
    HP/Liter rate: 101,06 cv/litro

The car is planned to be mid-engined/rear wheel drive, a Lotus Elise competitor. Any other questions let me know.... just sharing another brazilian attempt in the automotive industry.

By the way, the name will be the Lobini H1 ( Lobini being the main guy behind the whole project )

Nowhere near a Ferrari..... Brazil IS a 3rd world country..... one of their goals is to make this car as affordable as possible to the community.

FYI, a stock Golf there, already deprived from a lot of factory standards from the US spec, costs almost $50k in Brazilian currency, compared to the $15k it is here.

So you really wouldn't expect a Ferrari-quality car, but it would be a nice sports car..... in a country where a 2 liter engine is already a big deal. Most cars from $10k-$20k are 1.0l, as in ONE LITER engines.....

        damn!

yeah, as I read, the car was front wheel drive, so how much HP can we expect of this car???

it might not be quick as the ferrari, but it surely has an agresive look

And the front looks like a Ferrari/Maserati.

I posted above but I forgot to translate it.... it's expected to have 180hp ( I left it as 180cv, which is the portuguese for hp )

seems to have a low peak HP for what i thought would be a peaky 4 cylinder.

So then I guess an 8.3ltr Dodge Viper wouldn't fit in too well down there. ;)

Trust me.... for Brazil's standards, that is a lot. Brazil is known to have one of the worst kind of gasoline ever..... not to mention the poor bastards who throw in water an alcohol mixed with the gas so the costumer pays for more and they save some gas.... to earn more money.

Doubtful.... it could if it was really sucessful first on the Brazilian market, but even if it happened, it would be a couple of years before we would see one here. At least in my opinion.

Kind of has the looks of the Gilet Vertigo race car. The Belgian car from GT3 for those of you with it...
                        Reminiscing...

                          Is it using a VAG 1.8t? I can't think of any other 4 cylinder that's got 5 valve/cylinder and a turbo.

I'm pretty sure the engine is their own make..... if they are even asking a aircraft maintenance hangar for help in designing this car... I'm pretty sure they have other sources to help them out with their own engine.
