Obviously rare, pictures look nice, but some of them seem a little too artsy for a for sale ad IMO. The audio deck looks a little out of place I think. $62,000 More pictures in the add.

I bet it will command 50k-ish range. $62k is the price of an evo m3. and i dont see that car being worth that much, for atleast 5-10 more years.

Funny I was thinking the same thing. Inflated prices are going to bottom out soon. All of these flips are like the 29 stock market crash. Inflated hoopla.

Also in 86 Allina was a tuner not a manufacter yet. That came in 89 if I remember correctly. Raul? What was date ?

Only one in the US, is that true? If I had a car like this I wanted to sell I would definitely spend some money to get it professionally detailed and then pay someone to take some real pictures of it.

well, in my heart, i agree with you but unfortunately, this simply isn't true.

they just don't have the desirability.

a really good example from my childhood:

ford falcon vs ford mustang from the 60's.

at the time you could buy a 65 falcon convertible for about 3-4k while the mustang was well north of 15k. they only made a few hundred falcon verts vs. thousands of mustang cabrios. rarity doesn't drive the price, this comes from desirability or supply and demand.


i'm not saying the alpina isn't desirable, it certainly is. unfortunately, the m3 is still much more so. maybe this is beginning to change however......


i can see a car like this being a catalyst to make this change. i know it only takes one buyer willing to pay this price, but there just aren't any sales anywhere close to this that would justify such a price.

i think the car's present value is probably more like 40k but i can see this one eventually selling in the low to mid 50's.


he is going to need way better photos than this. who the hell tries to sell a car with pics taken during a sunset? crazy!

You are right but I also feel its from lack of knowledge on the rest of tthe scene I have a feeling if people just knew the rarity and what not of the alpina's hartge etc they would be right up there with the m3's Ive noticed some think alpina didnt come around until the newer BMW's

This will be an interesting sale. I am eager to see what it fetches. This sale is for an enthusiast, so what do they place a premium on, rarity or racing pedegree? This sale or any e30 m3, for that matter is not for just a person who knows what an m3 is. The e30 m3 is in a price point where pretty much only an individual who truely knows the history and pedigree of the chassis is interested in buying. I also think e30s have a ways to go before hitting their peak, all the 30 - 40 yr olds like me that grew up longing for one are now in a position where they can spend $$$ to get a car from their childhood dreams. They are like the gen x muscle car. I think 20k will be the high water mark for well sorted 325is and $100k will be the rate for pristine m3's with evo and verts fetching more.
