Should i buy this 318is?? help

It says its a 92, but I thought the m42 was only made in 91. anyway the body and interior would need some work.. my budget is around 7k so should i talk this guy down and put a few grand in it to make it tip top, or should I hold off?
this would be my first BMW and I don't have much experience working on cars. only worked on a few motorcycles/dirtbikes, but i learn quickly and I'm kinda eager to get my hands dirty. i just don't want it to be a money pit and or waste of time. Any advice appreciated! as you can see i'm a noob

You can do better - much better with a $7K budget.

The only thing is if I can talk him down to around 2k then I'll have plenty of money to make it exactly how i want it. Re-upholster the interior.. get a new body kit to replace the bumpers, and paint it.. would that cost more than its worth you think? Also I've heard really great things about the m42 engine

I agree with the others. You'd be better off spending more up front. This one seems nice, maybe you can get them down on price too as it seems a little high for an es:

the san antonio car referenced in this thread looks like a poop sandwich to me. i guess at the right price, i could be a starting point. a very low starting point, however. its pretty bad.
