Anyone have a trailer hitch on their E30?

I'm probably going to pick up a sailboat in Reno this weekend. Any way I could get a hitch on my car?

BTW: it's a 17' Hobie Cat and it weighs less than 400lbs.

they have hitches on alot of E30s here in germany, but the euro trailer hitch ball is smaller. was actually a dealer option here.

Da'Lan makes hitches for most BMW's, including E30's (big + small bumper cars). Uhaul used to sell the Da'Lan-made hitches under the Uhaul name, might be worth a call to your local outlet.

I have made several hitches for the big-bumper cars, one is still on my '87 325is. They have been used to haul small tire trailers with 4 race wheels + tires plus a large plastic box filled with tools and spares without any trouble.

I can make one of the big-bumper hitches for ~$150 + shipping if interested, I have not branched out into making the small bumper hitches. There are 2 different hitches for the big bumper cars, fixed mount (where the hitch sticks out from the bumper all of the time- so you can whack your shins on it when you walk around the back of the car in the dark!!) and receiver mount (like a big hitch- you can remove the square receiver bar that holds the ball). BUT, the later cars only have the fixed mount type.
