Looks similar to mine!That's awesome and you'll love using it! I just bought my first tig last winter and built my tw turbo mani with it for my first project. Definitely a huge learning experience but I plan on building anyone just because well I can haha.
You can tell the welds in the background is were I started and then you can see where I got the hang of it haha

Haven't done a whole lot of welding myself, just sheetmetal work while fixing rust on my cars. Planning on picking up a tig welder to make a turbo m30 manifold as well as an aluminium intake manifold for the s38 throttle bodies I plan to use with it. I follow several welders on IG and I'm obsessed with tig welding.
I saw there was some earlier talk about brazing. I've been following a guy on IG for a while now who is kick ass at brazing.

Re: leaky vbands, I welded up two 3" T304 vibrant clamps (MIG) and they seal fine. I feel like the only real trick is to weld it with the two flanges/clamp all tightened up.Leave a comment:

No back purging. I rent this little Lincoln 175 from the auto hobby shop on ft. Carson. I can't really modify the setup besides changing out my torch consumables.
Grey'd out like that is usually from too being too hot, but I had it down to almost no puddle and it was still gray! I talked with another guy who has welded stainless from silicone intakes, and he thinks that whatever the Chinese put on it to give the pipe that mirror finish causes the welfare to to not color like normal.
If you look at the other welds that are magnaflow to wire hanger, they have the normal salmon color. No change in any way other than base material manufacturer.
I find this learning experience fascinating!

Eric, were you back purging? It looks like on that v-band you blew a hole, and the bead looks awfully grey. Stainless likes to be cold and loves argon.
I finished my exhaust over the past two days and I'm pretty happy with it. I can't wait for a machine with pulse at my house, straight TIG is such a tease when you know you could pulse and lay dimes... At least I got a permanent corner in the detached garage :)

Found a spot I liked and tacked them on! He's planning on buying adjustable ones soon.
I actually did a bit more work on this hooptie today. It's a 89 with a M30b35 swap.

The previous exhaust was complete shit, so we found an E32 in the yard with the cat cut off right at the X pipe. I trimmed it down into a y-pipe, then crushed this 3" manderal bent stainless into an oval to fit.

this went into a V-band clamp (cannot get it to stop leaking, ugh)

then a 18" magnaflow muffler, 3" in, dual 2.5 out. From the muffler the dual 2.5's take a right turn and head straight out to freedom. It's loud, very very loud!

As you can see in the photo above, there is only one hanger holding the exhaust up. We ran out of time at the hobby shop on base ad had to finish up with just a couple tack welds. Unfortunately, the tacks quickly broke ad the muffler dragged on every little thing. This was after 2 days of driving.

So today's project was to fix the leak and add more hangers. The muffler was actually quite easy to repair, a bit of hammer and I was ale to lay down a nice bead. SOrry it's out of focus.

And then added some hangers. There is now a total of 4 hangers holding the exhaust up... I don't thing it will be moving much!
