    E30 plastic hardtop

Need some information on this. Usually all the hard tops that i have seen are fiber with black cloth like material on the top. Recently came across a hard top that came off of a 92 convertible that is all plastic on the top. The lines are exactly the same as a factory hardtop. Anyone know what this is and how much would it be worth?

Here is an image of a similar one:

The picture you attached appears to be a OEM hardtop that has had the cloth covering removed and was then prepped & painted. That process has been addressed in detail on the forum, try a search.

the hard top was stripped and finished in the color of choice. To my knowledge no tops were ever produced from the factory with a smooth painted finish. All were vinyl and believe they came in 4 colors. Black the most common, navy blue, dark brown and tan.

Looks like that is the case. Wondering if there is a need or demand for something like this? Would you pay a premium for this?

It narrows your market. What color is it?

The one in the pic is a painted OEM one as others have stated.

Weismann made aftermarket painted tops and they are rare.
