Anyone try BavAuto branded or JL Germany branded parts

Anyone have experience with buying Bavarian Autosport brand parts? I'm looking at getting some control arms and the BavAuto branded ones are $30 cheaper (each) than Lemfoerder. I know Lemfoerder is pretty much the best, but what I'm asking here is if anyone has actually bought BavAuto branded stuff and what their experience was. I want to make sure they're not rebranded Uro or some garbage like that. And yes I have googled it, but came up dry with as far as people that actually tried them.

Also, has anyone had experience with JL Germany parts which are sold by BavAuto? I need new trans mounts (I had to jack the engine up and loosened the motor mounts and trans mounts, then when tightening them back up sheared the trans mount stud at only half the torque spec'd in Bentley) and the JL Germany one on BavAuto is a good price but I don't know how the brand is.

    thanks...

I haven't heard anything about JL Germany in particular, just that when buying rubber parts, you get what you pay for, like anything else. From what I've read, cheap rubber degrades much faster than the more expensive stuff. I have JL Germany tie rods I'm going to throw on, but for control arms, I was just going to get Lemfoerder... even though they're like $100 each. But if they last twice as long, it's worth it.

As far as bavauto, I remember reading somewhere they weren't as good as Lemfoerder.

FCP euro has a CRP tranny mount for like $20 each, from what I remember. They're in Groton.

Yeah I'll probably end up doing Lemfoerder CAs and try the JL Germany tranny mounts. If it was motor mounts I'd be more inclined to get better ones but the tranny isn't subjected to nearly the same loads.

FCP Groton closed down, they have a place down in New Haven now if I remember correctly. It sucks too because Groton is super close to me.

Weird. I had their stuff shipped to me a few weeks ago. On my bank statement they're listed as Groton still. New Haven is actually closer to me :P

FCP Groton is now FCP Euro. They are very much in business.

Due to a rapid increase in my E30 population, I'm now one of their top 1000 customers.

I didn't mean they were no longer in business, I just meant they were no longer open in Groton. I had called them a few months back and they told me the Groton location has been closed for a year or two. I just checked their website and is says they're located in Milford, CT, which is right by New Haven.

You really do get what you pay for with suspension components. That being said "JL Germany doesnt really mean much at all. I regularly see parts labeled "Made In Germany" in a bag that is stamped Made in China or brazil or Turkey or a number of other countries. Many items are outsourced and its not always a bad thing. On my personal cars I run stuff I know is good like Lemfoerder etc. There are so many rebranded Chinese crap parts on the market right now

Yeah, probably true about the JL Germany. What about BavAuto branded stuff?

For example, what about their springs?

I remember buying a control arm kit from Bav Auto for my previous e30 and I believe they were in fact made by URO. That said, I didn't have any problem with them but I have heard mixed reviews. They do have a 2year warranty according to their website. As for the springs, Im not sure who makes them but I also never had any problems with them on my old car.

Good info. I think I'll probably end up calling BavAuto and asking them what the brand of CAs is. If its URO I don't think I'll go for them...

why cheap out if your going to second guess your decision later?

I buy the best and trust I'll never need to replace that part again for as long as I own the car. Has worked on this car as well as many others I've owned in the past.

Just be thankful that there are still high quality parts being made for these old cars

Their springs are fine as are 99% of all their parts .. Just be cautious of brands

                              Bavauto ignition wires suck.

That's all I have to say about that.
