best way to sell a new car?

So I am going to sell a 2014 subaru crosstek that is a hybrid and I am trying to figure out the best way to sell a new car like this
so far I have never sold a car worth more than 2000$ so I understand Craigslist but I was wondering if there are better ways

    autotrader.com
    cars.com
    kbb.com
    local for sale ads

I'd start with craigslist since it's free.

I don't think you car qualifies as a "new" car therefore can be sold using any of the above web sites.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

honestly, probably the best solution would be to go to the dealer where you bought it and see how much they will give you to buy it outright.

it is normally a big pain in the ass to sell a car that new. most people who are looking in this price range are better off just buying a new car because the interest rate will be better and dealer warranty. its hard to find someone that wants your car that can afford to pull out a wad of cash and just pay for it.

we recently sold my wife's '13 honda pilot. i dicked around with it for a while on auto trader and craigslist. everyone wants to lowball the shit out if you and offer you less than the dealer would pay.

just to throw out some numbers, we bought it new at the end of the model year paying about 31k.(it was a HUGE discount over msrp) sold it after 1.5 years with 55,000 miles to the dealer for 26,500. we turned in the 120k warranty we bought from honda and received an 1,100 dollar refund. other than the expendables(maint and gas,) the car only cost about 3.5k plus a very nominal interest rate of 0.6% for 55k miles of our driving.

everyone that came to look at the car said they felt they may as well just buy a new car as pay that much for a used one. in reality, i don't blame them either. perhaps you will be in that situation too.

^ You are lucky. Not many dealers would buy the car back or they would low ball you just like everyone else.

Good thing it's a Subaru. It holds it value better than most and people buying Subaru's are typically intelligent and actually have money to spend on a good car. I was a Subaru salesman for a couple years and 90% of my sales were perfect credit (800+ almost every time) or cash.

Not so sure about the Hybrid part though. It may or may not help. Not many made, very small hybrid system that only helps in the city by a few MPG's. However, there is usually a buyer that wants a specific car like a Crosstrek Hybrid. Even if it is plasma green!

Either way, I don't think you will have a problem selling it. You're located in Colorado, land of Subaru's. If they were selling like hotcakes here in Florida, could it really be that hard in a climate more suited for a Subaru?

And like someone said, look at trading it into a dealership. Subaru has a Guaranteed Trade-In Program that can make it easy for you. If your car matches their criteria, (No extensive damage, original owner, under a certain mileage for the year, ect.) Subaru typically offers a great price for your car, no hassle.

              GLWS!

I accidentally bought a 2014 forester in the fall of '13, drove it for the winter then sold it 5 or 6 months later.

Did it on CL. Subarus sell pretty easily in CO. You'll still take a bit of a bath. I only had 1 serious inquiry, but luckily he bought it. Cost me $3k + taxes for 8000 miles of use. Sucks, but oh well.

if they were that smart, they be able to look past the fancy marketing to see a car that's overhyped. Subaru sells people on a need that doesn't exist (a decent set of snow tires on anything easily meets the needs of 90% of drivers).

Just go to carmax. You'll get the most possible for it and no headache, besides the dumb hourly person who will try and make you watch some video on how they operate before they appraise your car.

Yeah you're right, besides being the only car manufacturer to have top safety pick across their entire line up, historically reliable, cheaper on insurance, creating car manufacturing plants that are ZERO landfill and has a wildlife habitat as its backyard, the only automaker to ever have 7 consecutive years of growth, ect ect. There's a reason for all that. There's a reason everyone buys them and keeps them for 10+ years. Subaru as a manufacturer is doing quite well for itself, the best they ever have and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down any time soon.

I'm glad snow tires work for you and 90% of other drivers...?

I'm pretty sure Subaru also officially ended world hunger, brought back our troops, and found a cure for cancer etc etc.

Why did you stop being a salesman if sales were so great? sounds silly to me that you'd jump ship if things are going so well
