    Story Conclusion: Toronto M3

    Hi everyone,

A few of you may remember a few months back I had posted about an E30 M3 I was trying to obtain from the original owner near of Toronto.

Long story short, it was a low km (70,000 original km) M3 that had never been winter driven, single owner and never been tracked. I was looking for some advice on what to look for during initial inspection and a rough guide to what it would potentially be worth and what I could offer the owner.

Anyways, I viewed the car (posted some photos here too) and made an offer. After a bit of back and forth, I came to the conclusion that I just couldn't bring the funds together to make a deal. So I passed on the contact info to a close friend who works at Pfaff that was interested, and they passed that onto someone from Pfaff McLaren. They went and viewed the car, and purchased it. Within 12 hours of purchasing it from the original owner, they had it sold to a previous Pfaff customer.

I figured some people on here were wondering what had happened to the M3 so I thought I'd give an update for those interested.

Sad to see it slip through my hands but for me I just couldn't make the money work without going into severe financial debt to have a car that I 'wanted' but didn't 'need' at this time...maybe one day down the road though.

I'd love to see the car again if the new owner happens to stumble across this site though!

I offered $25k cdn and that was as high as I could go. Owner was considering it but really wanted to get $35k for it. We were just too far apart obviously.

She got more then the $35k she was asking.

Funny note, she took it to two BMW dealerships and they both offered.........

            $10k.

Morons don't even know the market on their own cars.

Then they are morons, and dicks for that kind of a low ball.

In reality, If that were the case, they would not have let her leave without at least getting close to a manageable number.

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry to learn you weren't able to buy the car, though. There are many worse things in life, but it still stings to let a good car at an amazing price get away due to lack of funds, let alone one you've grown up with!

It sure sounds like you're owed a commission on the car. The person from Pfaff who bought it and immediately flipped it is probably already flush with cash (I know the owner sure is), and likely made a tidy profit for little effort and time invested.

If they have any ethics and class they should pay their respects with a nice share of the profit for you.

It's a shame you missed out on the opportunity as well. You know well that the $42,000 she received could easily have been $60,000+ in this market.

I would bet they were just trying to give her a fraction of the true value of the car out of sheer greed. There's no way someone who works for BMW with Internet access and the ability to read makes that kind of offer without knowingly doing so for slimy purposes. They wouldn't up their offer for fear of being accused of exactly what they're guilty of.

Which two dealerships did she take the car to? I'd love to divert business away from them by making this activity public knowledge...

Before I gave them the contact info I organized a commission if they bought it, and they agreed to. I at least wanted to get something out of the deal if I didn't end up with the car, haha.
