So I tried to order euro trim and this is what I got from BMW. A letter stating that BMW dealerships cannot sell european spec parts to NA customers. I'm sure it's been policy from the get go, but never enforced. I tried two sources, and I was told that no dealer will be able to sell those parts here in the USA unless they have them on hand.

REQUESTS TO OBTAIN PARTS FOR NON-U.S.
SPECIFICATION VEHICLES
The U.S. standards for automotive and safety regulations differ significantly from those of
most other countries. For this reason, BMW of North America, LLC (“BMW NA”)
carefully controls the import and release of non-U.S. specification parts into the United States.
We will only import such parts to support the customers of non-U.S. specification vehicles
that have been legally imported into the U.S. This includes, but is not limited to:
diplomatic vehicles and vehicles purchased by military personnel overseas.
We do not support the installation of non-U.S. specification parts on U.S. specification
vehicles. Accessory parts and retrofitting also will not be supported through this
program. Centers are not to be involved in selling or exporting these parts outside of
the U.S.
Only parts that were originally installed on the vehicle at the time of manufacture will be
eligible for requests. All parts supplied through this program are released with the
understanding that they will be installed only on the vehicle which has been indentified on
the submitted form.
Centers are legally responsible for all information supplied, and must verify the authenticity
of all documentation submitted to BMW NA.

An exemption letter from a foreign consulate, the diplomatic license plate number and,
upon request, photos of the license plates.
Temporary import papers from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
