Bad News From BMW /EuroParts to NA

So I tried to order euro trim and this is what I got from BMW. A letter stating that BMW dealerships cannot sell european spec parts to NA customers. I'm sure it's been policy from the get go, but never enforced. I tried two sources, and I was told that no dealer will be able to sell those parts here in the USA unless they have them on hand.

    Bulletin B31-1214-0633

    BMW Parts Bulletin
REQUESTS TO OBTAIN PARTS FOR NON-U.S.
    SPECIFICATION VEHICLES
The U.S. standards for automotive and safety regulations differ significantly from those of
most other countries. For this reason, BMW of North America, LLC (“BMW NA”)
carefully controls the import and release of non-U.S. specification parts into the United States.

We will only import such parts to support the customers of non-U.S. specification vehicles
that have been legally imported into the U.S. This includes, but is not limited to:
diplomatic vehicles and vehicles purchased by military personnel overseas.
We do not support the installation of non-U.S. specification parts on U.S. specification
vehicles. Accessory parts and retrofitting also will not be supported through this
program. Centers are not to be involved in selling or exporting these parts outside of
    the U.S.

Only parts that were originally installed on the vehicle at the time of manufacture will be
eligible for requests. All parts supplied through this program are released with the
understanding that they will be installed only on the vehicle which has been indentified on
    the submitted form.

Centers are legally responsible for all information supplied, and must verify the authenticity
of all documentation submitted to BMW NA.
    Request Submission

Complete the attached form and sign, scan, and send it via email to
SpecialPartsRequest@bmwna.com with “non-U.S. parts” in the subject line.
Incomplete forms will not be accepted.
 All requests must be accompanied by supporting documentation, as listed below.
Requests not accompanied by supporting documentation will be automatically
    denied.
 BMW NA reserves the right to request further documentation or to reject any
request that appears to be non-compliant.
 All non-U.S. parts are NOT RETURNABLE and blocked from center direct
shipping out of Germany. Approved parts will be released from the RDCs.
    Supporting Documentation

Completed forms must be accompanied by at least one of the following:
 A copy of the current U.S. registration for the vehicle (with the VIN number visible)
and a copy of a valid U.S. driver's license for the owner of the vehicle (the name on the
    license must match the registration).
    • A U.S. title will also be accepted for classic/collector vehicles.
 An exemption letter from a foreign consulate, the diplomatic license plate number and,
upon request, photos of the license plates.
 Temporary import papers from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
 Proof the vehicle has been converted by an independent commercial importer and is in
compliance with all U.S. regulations (must be accompanied by a U.S. motor vehicle
    title).

Note: Any documentation that is found to be forged or otherwise tampered
with will result in permanent exclusion from this program.
    Approval/Denial

 After the review and final decision have been completed, forms will be returned
    to the supplied email address.
 If the request is approved, a stock (YOR) order will be placed on the center’s
behalf. The PO for these orders will be comprised of “NONUS” and the date
the request was received (i.e., NONUS 010114). The sales order number and
purchase order number will be provided in the email response.
 If the request is denied, the form will be returned with the reason why.

Disclaimer: The center and customer are responsible for verifying that the use of the
requested parts is in accordance with any applicable DOT and/or EPA regulations.
Parts not certified and regulated by the DOT and/or the EPA will be released for offroad
use only. BMW NA will not be held liable for any damages or fines arising out of
the misuse or installation of these items.

Please direct all ETA inquiries to the Parts Technical Group via phone at (800) 272-0202 or email
    at PCG@bmwna.com.

That sucks. That's a loss of a sale for BMW imo.

I have an early eurospec e30. I wonder if that would work for late model trim? probably not.

Only if they have it on hand. If they try to order it from BMW HQ, then they will be denied like the others. It looks to be the case. I'm chatting with them now.

EDIT: You're right. Looks to be limited to dealerships.

I know right. I had over $250 on order. including 62111377320 the euro cluster symbol panel.

Tischer just pulled their euro trim kit. I put it in my cart, and then it disappeared... BMW must have just started coming down on dealerships requesting euro parts.

I tried a bit of searching beforehand, but I couldn't find any discussions about it. I just want to make sure the word gets out, because I have like $500 in pending refunds.

Just finished chatting with ECStuning, and they said that they have it on order already. So it looks like it's only limited to dealerships. Unfortunately, the dealerships were way cheaper.

weird, they have mt1 rear aprons for like $290 and mt2 pieces for sub 100

I was able to piece together my euro early front end for less than $150.

I have jumped through ALL of their hoops and I still don't have my lower radiator hose for my legally imported euro 325ic ( it has been almost 2 months so far) . I can see being hard assed about emission and safety parts but Trim and service items like coolant hoses is a bit much.
