I just wanted to see if anybody on this forum is using EBC greens, and if its worthwile to put on a daily driver/monthly auto-x car? Is it worth the money, or should i stick to mintex?
I had them on my 318is, and they stopped wonderfully when they were up to temperature, but had miserable initial-bite. They are very dusty and fairly noisy.
I dont think he is talking about Greenstuffs. EBC Greenstuffs are NOTORIOUS for being a NO DUST pad. They made some dust on the track but for day to day driving they are dust free. That is why I chose them, I didnt want to have to clean the Alpinas daily.
Maybe he is thinking of redstuffs which are designed for higher temps. The Greenstuffs have no organic material in them to turn to carbon, so no dust.
Good pad. I'm on my second set now, and my experiences are that they dust relatively lightly (more than say, PBRs, but a lot less than Pagids) and produce no noise when used with anti-squeal lubrication. They make great street pads.

That was the problem for me Ryan, I never figured it out. On the GreenStuff box it says "No Dust" which got me excited. However, after 4-5 days of driving, I found that my front wheels were caked with dust! It washed off very easily, but still a disappointment. Perhaps I got a bad set of pads, because most people praise Greens for having very little dust. I dunno.
I'm running Axxis Metalmasters right now, but have only driven on them for a few days. I'll let you guys know how they 'dust.'

EBC are the BOMB. I will only run EBC Greens on the street. They are DUST FREE, EASY ON ROTORS AND STOP AWESOME!
I just got Mintex pads... they are the old-school asbestos pads from the early 90's for the front and set of red-box pads for the rear. I loved the mintex pads I had on my last M3, they are comparable to the EBC's but I think they are more fade resistant.

we sell EBC pads all day long. they dust minimally (greens hardly at all) and work well without warmup. perfect for a street pad.
once you get on the track, different story. They work fine, and don't fade all that much, but bring a spare set. or three. seriously.. they will go away very quickly. i went thru a set in 4 sessions at watkins glen... not just "oh these pads are probably done" but "holy shit there's nothing left of these pads"
i've run yellow stuff in the rear at the track, and those worked pretty well. supposedly EBC came out with the V2 compound for redstuff that was supposed to last longer. we basically found that it lasted marginally longer with a little more dust.
braking setups are truly a comprimise. you have to decide what you want to give up, or you have to have dedicated setups for track and street.
