OEM Part numbers ?!

Anyone know? I am trying to use www.realoem.com to look up some tidbits but all the part numbers are only 11 digits and the dealer needs a 12 digit number. What gives? Anyone know the answer to this problem?

All BMW part numbers are 11 digits, what is that dealer smoking???

They follow this format:

xx xx x xxx xxx

Thats what I told him and he told me no again. I mean all the new parts I buy only have an 11 digit number on them. I thought I was in the wrong. Thanks man!
