skid plates

hello
do after market skid plates need to be welded on or are they bolt ons?

Only weld on one I know of its the "e30 motorwerks" one with the giant U brace you weld to your frame. Other then that the red46 and race skids ones involve drilling a few holds in the core support and bolting it on with existing steering rack bolts.
