Gauging interest E30 Brake duct backing plates - Neue Motorsports

    Hello everyone,

I am wondering if there would be interest in doing a pre-order run of some E30 brake duct backing plates. These would fit right in the same location as the stock dust shields.

The plates will most likely be done in aluminum, price is not set yet . I need to have 20 orders to do it. If you're interested in the idea let me know! If you have any suggestions put them down also.

i don't race personally, but i do see a market for these. i would say go ahead and produce them. i don't think you are going to light up the shelves at wall mart but i think they will sell. perhaps your price point is a little bit high. it appears that you could still make a nice profit and keep it under a hundred bucks. after all, you have 2 pieces of tubing, and two small pieces sheet metal cut on a cnc, and a couple tack welds.

i would recommend marketing these on s14.

somehow, it seems like i have seen that photo before...

edit: after reading agent's post and checking the link, i see what he is talking about.

here is some advice: that seller is asking stupid money for nothing to be sure. if you can reproduce and sell them cheaper, more power to you. however, ripping off the guy's photo makes you look kind of sketchy. i know that you aren't but next time, make a prototype yourself, improve it somehow so it doesn't look like you are stealing someone else's idea, take your own photos, and post those. i still think you can make these and make money on them. its just the way you are going about it is probably wrong.

Well now that the cat is out of the bag, yes. We are going to be the exclusive dealer of their E30 stuff. That price you see there does not include shipping them to me or me shipping them out to customers btw.

Refer to the previous answer. Yeah, he didn't have any photos that weren't water marked so I modified it a little bit. The price point can always come down with more orders but to be able to get the 20 to start I need to sell it at that price point. I figure I'll sell half quickly then the rest will slowly sell.

Also they can be done in steel but I figured aluminum would be preferred. And yeah ones to fit the M3 would be a great addition.

I've done a fair amount of research on these lately, which is why I recognized the image.

If you're trying to get a group buy going, charging full retail may not get you a lot of interest. Stainless steel plates can be found for $125/pair, so as flyboy said if you reduce your price point to get this off the ground you may have better luck.

Wow. At least 100% markup on a pre-order group buy? That's pretty special.

Edit: That's $1,400 list price for 20 sets, plus $100 shipping. Shipping is $5-10 depending on how small a box you can cram them in.

Oh gotcha, yeah he hasn't sold any in 4 years. Am trying to revitalize the product.

The price isn't set yet, just an idea. It really depends on how many pre-orders I get. If I only get 10 I have to come up with the money to order 10 more so I can place the order. I'll figure something out.
