E30 325i conv help

hey guys,

just picked up a real nice 1987 325Ci

has few minor issues and i need your help.

1. minor roof leak in the front

2. speedometer is working on and off, seems like when i go over bumps it starts/stops working

3. windshield wipers work on and off

4. my most concerning is when i go into 4th gear sometimes it doesnt go in and i hear grinding sound. when i double clutch it works intermittently as well

please help, i read bentley manual on all above and cant figure it out

1. I do a few things:

Use raggtopp to make water bead and run off the top. This way it can't soak in and run down in between the seals

Park uphill when possible

You may want to grab some cheap window weatherstripping from home depot and make a second rubber seal along the top of the windshield where it meets the top

You may also want to adjust your top so that it rests more closely against your windshield. Mine was crooked and had to be moved forward. You can find videos on how to do this on the forum.

Definitely get a car cover for when it storms, and some towels for inside just in case. The micro fiber ones work best

2&3 sound like electrical connections issues. For some reason the grounds in these cars tend to go bad and you have to open up the cluster and sand away the dark gray corrosion. Also check your fuses
