Anyone Near Chicago?

I'm currently looking at a 91 318ic at a dealership in Lombard, IL. I want to buy it, but not so blindly. They said they have "independent inspectors" I could pay to look at the car and report back to me but I'd rather see if someone on the forum would like to do me a solid and go take it for a test drive and take a look at it.

In exchange for this nicety I would gladly provide a meal, drinks and middling company if/when I pick it up!

I know it's a long shot, but let me know if you're willing!

The dealer should be willing to bring it to a local shop of your choosing for a PPI. Said shop will probably charge $100-$200 dollars and you pay them directly (we get $100 where I work). It's cheap peace of mind on a long distance purchase, and will be far more thorough than someone taking a cursory look at the car with a salesman standing over them.

If they balk at that, I'd take it as a red flag and walk away.
