First post so I'm really no expert!

I'm in very similar shoes to you sir, just purchased a mint condition series 1 323i.

My priority when looking for an E30 was a straight body and a mint interior.

I paid slightly higher then I would of for an unappreciated 318i/325i with some modifications however I saw value in the original state of the car.

I wanted a cruiser with some room for minor restoration improvements as I'm not too mechanically minded.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase and so should you because it's yours.

I honestly have no idea, I was just trying to make r3v a little meaner like he asked.

I came to this country not knowing a word of English. If I can write a complete sentence, so should everyone who is born in the good USA. Sadly, that is not the case.

It all depends on what you want. If you want factory quality paint, you can buy a $5k e30 and then spend at least $10k on a pro paint job. You then have a $15k e30 that still most likely needs some interior work along with needing a number of other issues resolved. It is very easy to spend $5k fixing things such as air conditioning, suspension, brakes, electrical etc. You can add another $5k for the interior work. So, getting to $25k is very easy.

The other option is to find a sub 75k mile one owner example that has been garaged all its life in a no salt state. However, the market price will be between $10k and $20k for this example.

The second option then becomes the obvious bargain.

I was referring to the fact that OP shouldn't care what anyone thinks and shouldn't be asking for opinions here... especially AFTER buying the car.
