    what is this switch

    Ive seen this same thing in a 735i and a e30. Im assuming its a setting for the transmission but i just wanted to be sure.

    Float like a cadillac sting like a Bimmer!:)

        Its for the settings on the electronically controlled ZF4HP22EH automatic transmission. I know that transmission was available in 5 and 7 series cars, but didn't think it made it to E30's at all.

        The transmission uses electronically controlled solenoids rather than the hydraulic pressure of the standard 4HP22 transmission to shift gears.
