Buying from title pawn?

Hey all, was trying to buy a 92 325ic at a title pawn in TN, they're telling me that I have to pay the tax up front (to them) and that I could get it back from the DMV because I want to use the car as a parts car.

Anyone have experience with this?

i have bought e30's from all kinds of crazy places over the years, but i can't say one ever came from a pawn shop.

if the car is a parts car, i can't imagine the amount of tax will be that much? pawn shops are negotiable. try telling them the amount you are willing to pay out the door with tax included. i buy tools from pawn shops all the time. about 90% of the time, i get the tax included in the final price.
