    So I dun goofed....

As some of you may know, looking at you exodus, I drive a b5 audi a4. I did something really stupid, but I'm not sure exactly what.

Here's what happened. On Monday night I was in need of a screwdriver, but there wasn't one nearby. I decided to use my audi key as an impromptu screwdriver. I bent it up just a little. I was 15 miles away from home, so I decided to see if I could even start my car. I put the key in the ignition and started my car like normal, but when I went to turn the steering wheel the wheel kept fighting me, really hard. Harder than a car with a manual rack.

Everyone I've talked to says power-steering pump, but that would just be too big of a coincidence. I know I'm a retard, so flame if you must, but does anyone even have an idea as to what might be wrong, and what needs to be fixed?

Does the post not make sense, or is it just a "damn son, you're stupid"?

Not sure of question or what using a key from a B5S4 as a screwdriver has to do with anything.

You think a steering component is bad as a result of a bent key?

I had a long response posted up and fucking hit the previous thread button.... So I'll summarize.

          Try another key. :-)

But, if you don't have another key, what year is it? I'm fortunate now that the S4 hype has died off and they aren't stolen every other day, the S4 never had an immobilizer. Buy cheap key off EBay, cut, and run.

Then it clearly isn't the key...

Check the power steering pump belt first. Might need to be tightened. Also check the fluid is topped off.

Could be the pump or rack. I would diagnose those two first before changing parts.

Update. After sitting for 6 days found this under my car. I have a slow oil leak, so it's most likely just moisture. But the power steering reservoir was empty so I'll definitely have to look into that. If I developed a power steering leak the same night as breaking my key that would be anhuge coincidence, but it may just be the case!

Audi forums are every bit as bad as Honda forums imo.

Honestly there's no reason to go brand specific to diag a mechanical power steering system.

Maybe you shouldn't have ditched that day in school when they taught us not to use your freaking key as a screwdriver
