    e30 m42

    Im really looking into getting an m42 e30 but wanted to know if its very similar the same as the e36 m42....if so :ohsnap:...i got a new project car (s42 replica)
    WTB: 318is/325is/325i coupe SoCAL

    same engine. same supension in the rear as the ti.

        If you're talking about the 318is, it's not the same engine. The engine in the E36 318is is an M44.

          The e36 318iS came with an m42 first then an m44 later.

          The m42 in the e36 is Almost the same as what we have in the e30 but it's not 100% the same. Lots of people have swapped e36 m42s into their e30s. No gains to be had though ;)

            I'm going to swap a E34 M20 into my E30 325is, can I expect HUGE gains????////

              like above, there were m42's in e36's but they had knock sensors, diff IM, etc...

                Yeah, theres a guy Gizmo who has completly rebuilt his 318 but hes been mixxing and matching alot of parts. I just needed to know if the e30 was pretty much the same becuas ei woul rather have it done in a car that in my opinion is one of the sexiest and most balanced cars ever built, not to mention one of the last cars to have the true german look to it.

                Thanks for the help and if anyone has any e30's for sale let me knowwww.
